It made the story more understandable and coherent. Upon reading the first edition I was really amazed by it and the reading experience was so much more pleasurable due to the wonderful and exhaustive illustrations and maps that were included. first edition and after some trouble with the Royal Library, I was finally allowed to pick it up. Now the folio edition is based on the 2003 Pimlico edition and it's a wonderful publication in itself but some of the illustrations, photos and maps are omitted. This was a wonderful story - but something was left out. ![]() ![]() I was left confused, lost and dissatisfied. I felt as if I was a reading a text with a thorn always stabbing, irritating my thought. However, it was only whilst reading the standard edition for the first time that I realised something. I am an Antarctic buff and love everything about it, so naturally I was thrilled to see the South Polar Times as a limited edition (which is a fantastic and mind boggling set that will seriously set every collector in severe insomnia for missing out) and I was also pleased to see Cherry-Garrard's magnum opus in standard edition published. I have sent folio a suggestion to publish a limited edition of The Worst Journey in the World by Cherry Garrard based on the 1922 first edition. ![]()
